Time

"Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived." - Captain Jean-Luc Picard

Half of today is gone plus an hour and I don't have a photo idea yet. Sitting on the couch I look up and there is the clock on the wall. I don't even have to leave my seat.

Today ends three months of this 365 project. One quarter of the way to completion. Well just short of one quarter though three months seems like a symbolic point. Tomorrow will be the 91st day of the year which would be hours short of a quarter year. In either case I can't believe I made it this far without missing a day.

Staying dry?

Gee, another rainy day. I had to go to the post office so I grabbed my Kodak Z612 instead of the DSLR and went looking for something to photograph outdoors. Right behind the post office I found my subject. He looks as happy as I am with all this wet weather.

How I feel today

Ah, another rainy day. It would be worse if the forecast weren't for sunny and seventies at the end of the week.

Palm

Looking around for something this morning and saw the light coming through the window onto this indoor palm. Except for the shadow from the window mullion I think it came out quite well.

USB

Lacking inspiration for a photograph today. Stuck in the house for six hours without power because electrician replacing cable on house leading into breaker box. Over sixty years old and was frayed and allowing water to seep into the breaker box. So, I walked around the house numerous times looking for something to photograph and finally just settled on the usb cable from my card reader.

Shipping some items today

Shipped something I sold on eBay and also something to the boys in California for Easter. This is the scale I use for weighing the packages before printing out the labels. It is still fairly accurate, at least within a couple ounces. The scale came to me when my mother's house was cleaned out after she moved to a nursing home. I estimate it to be about sixty years old. It still has a tag on it that states it is a Sears Household Scale.

Perhaps a gnome will help this year

It is a rainy day today so no chance to get outside for any camera work. Yes, I was going to go out for the third straight day. So, I looked around the house, even in the basement, for something to photograph. Nothing jumped out at me except for this gnome which I received from Santa. And with opening day being only fourteen days away I thought it apropos.

Bayside walk

Yesterday it was seventy degrees and we went for a hike in the park. Today it was only in the fifties, due mainly to a change in wind direction, now coming off the bay, so we went for a walk along the bay to a local branch of the library. One week ago we had a tremendous storm that dumped over five inches of rain on NJ and with the rain and the tidal surge pushed by the strong winds flooding and beach erosion was everywhere. Here you can see a long buried seawall that was uncovered when the dune that hid it was washed away.

Post abc, out of the basement, out of the house

In the low seventies today so Pat and I decided to take the ten minute drive to Cheesquake State Park and hike one of the trails. I took thirty three photos, narrowed it down to three that I thought might be 365 worthy, but then really couldn't decide. Even now I think I chose the wrong one, but will post it anyway and see if anyone will agree that it isn't worthy.

It's over

A presta valve

I wish this were taken outside after a ride, but since it has been raining for three days here I had to throw the bike up on the trainer to get a ride in.

U -- five more to go

For anyone who hasn't figured it out yet, I have been doing the alphabet in pictures.

I had today's idea well in advance BUT this morning before setting up my shot I looked to see what others had uploaded already on another 365 project site I upload to. And what did I find? Someone had taken nearly my exact shot; a pic of our ulu knife. So, back to the drawing board. I first came up with the idea of taking a photo of my uvula. I set it all up in front of the mirror, took about twenty pictures and then checked them out on the computer. I cropped out most of my face and had one that looked pretty good. But it also looked kind of gross. :-) So, I adjusted it to black and white. A little better, but still a bit gross. Back to the drawing board again, which for me this time, meant a trip to the basement. And I was not disappointed. There I found an old U bolt, a bit rusty, but it would do.

An old portable typewriter

Rummaging around in the basement, sorting things for a garage sale.

55% of this pattern's photos have come from the basement.

Anyone want to play a game?

Once again the basement provides me with my pic of the day and keeps the pattern going.

52.941% from the basement, for those that are interested.

Spring is here. Wait. That isn't a robin.

It was fifty degrees at nine this morning so we opened the windows for some fresh air. It wasn't too long before a small pelican landed on our window sill and I had to take a picture of him.

And if you believe that I have a bridge to sell you.

On or Off

Is there anyone who hasn't figured out the pattern yet? Is there anyone looking at these photos?
